Your privacy is important to us. At Blipd we believe in a few fundamental principles about privacy:
The term “personal information” means information that specifically identifies an individual (such as a name, address, telephone number, mobile number, e-mail address, photograph, video or other account information), and information about that individual’s location or activities, such as information about his or her use of Blipd, when directly linked to personally identifiable information. Personal information also includes demographic information such as date of birth, gender, geographic area and preferences when such information is linked to other personal information that identifies you. Personal information does not include “aggregate” information, which is data we collect about the use of the Service or categories of Service users, from which any personal information has been removed. For example, the fact that 387 people are logged into Blipd in a specific geographic area at a specific moment in time is aggregate information, not personal information. We collect aggregate information for a number of purposes, including helping us understand trends and user needs so that we can better consider new products and services, and tailor our existing Service to user desires. This policy in no way limits or restricts our collection of aggregate information.
When you create an account in the Service, we require an email address (we may send you an email to verify) and username. You may also choose to add a picture that represents you within the Service and add your real name. Some of this information will be visible to the public, but your email address will remain private. You may modify any of your information at any time via settings in the Service.
Personal information may also be collected in a number of ways when you use the Service. We may collect certain information you voluntarily provide to us which may contain personal information. For example, if you register for the Service, email us, or submit content via the Service, we may collect your name, photograph, video, text, location or demographic information that you provide. In addition, from time to time we may collect contact or other personal or demographic information you provide in connection with your participation in surveys or promotional offers.
The Blipd Service will automatically collect location information from your mobile device and/or your mobile carrier. When you use the Service some information may also automatically be collected, such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address, your operating system, the browser type, the address of a referring web site, and your activity on the application and through the Service. We treat this information as personal information if we combine it with or link it to any of the identifying information mentioned above.
Be aware that personal information you share with others may be forwarded and information you post to the Service may become publicly available due to normal use of the Service. For example, the existence of your Blipd account, information you post in your Profile, or any other interactive areas, or other information you provide for the purpose of being shared publicly may potentially be viewed by anyone. Your posting to such public areas of the Service constitutes your consent to share such information publicly. It is your responsibility to adjust privacy settings in the Service to ensure that your personal information is shared in accordance with your wishes.
If you remove information that you posted to the Service, copies may still remain viewable for a period of time. The Service may provide you with the option of sharing some of your activity to other social media applications (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, etc.) When you share information with other social media applications, this information may be viewable by the communities on those Services and may be discoverable by search engines.
If you believe another user of the Service has posted information that violates your privacy or is otherwise offensive, you must inform us at email@example.com and we will take all reasonable efforts to identify and remove the offending content.
In order to operate properly, the Service needs to determine your location. Whenever you use the Service on a mobile device, we use location information from your mobile device (e.g., latitude and longitude) to tailor the Service experience to your current location (e.g to show you a list of nearby blips, friends, etc.).
Your location information is NOT shared with others unless you specifically authorize it. You may choose, at your sole discretion, to share your current location via the Service to other users of the Service. Content you share in the Service may be time stamped and other users could use that information to infer when you were at a specific location. You should only share your location with people you know and trust not to inappropriately convey your location to others.
We may also automatically collect certain information through the use of “cookies.” Cookies are small data files that are stored on a user’s hard drive at the request of a Web site to enable the site to recognize users who have previously visited them and retain certain information such as customer preferences and history. If we combine cookies with or link them to any of the personal information, we would treat this information as personal information. If you wish to block, erase, or be warned of cookies, please refer to your browser instructions to learn about these functions.
Like most website operators, Blipd collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Blipd’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how Blipd visitors use its website.
We may use analytics software to allow us to better understand the functionality of our Service. This software may record information such as how often you use the application, the events that occur within the application, aggregated usage, performance data, and from where the application was downloaded. We do not link the information we store within the analytics software to any personally identifiable information you submit within the mobile application.
In general, we use personal information we may collect (such as your name or social network information) to facilitate your use of the mobile application and Blipd Service, to provide you with information and Services you request, to administer and assist us with the operation of our Service, and for the purpose for which the information was provided.
For example, we may use the information we collect:
We will not use your personal information to send you news and product updates, unless you “opt in” to receiving such communications. In addition, you may “opt out” of receiving marketing or promotional emails from Blipd by following unsubscribe instructions. Please note, however, that as long as you receive the Service, you may not “opt out” of receiving Service-related emails from Blipd regarding technical matters.
We do not sell, share, or rent any personal information to third parties in any ways other than what is disclosed in this Policy. However, we may provide non-personal information and aggregate information to third parties without your authorization.
We may share your contact information with third parties, but only if you have indicated to us that you wish to receive information from such parties. In the event that we engage or partner with third party vendors, consultants or other Service providers in connection with the operation of the Site and our Services (“Service Providers”), we may share personal information with such Service Providers who need access to such information to carry out their work for us. Service Providers include network operations and Service monitoring (NOC) providers, server hosting companies, customer support Service providers, and analytics Services.
Blipd endeavors to secure your personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure by putting into place measures to safeguard the information we collect. When you enter sensitive information or we automatically collect sensitive information on our forms, we encrypt the transmission of that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL). Please be aware, however, that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and that we cannot guarantee that the Site or Service will be free of any defects or flaws that affect your use of it or the security of your information.
We will retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you Service. If you wish to cancel your account or request that we no longer use your information to provide you Service contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Following termination of your account, Blipd may retain information and user content for a commercially reasonable time for backup, archival, and or audit purposes. We may also retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
If you have any questions or comments about this Policy or the practices relating to this Site or our Service, or you wish to verify, correct or delete any personal information we have collected, please login to your account and update your information within the settings or contact us at email@example.com and we will endeavor to respond to your inquiry or to correct, update or remove the personal information you indicate, to the extent possible.
If you wish to discontinue use of the Blipd Service and would like to have your account permanently deleted, you may send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Once your account is deleted, you will no longer have access to your Blipd history, preferences or any other information associated with your use of the Blipd Service.
